Currently, there is no One App to Rule Them All. Many note-taking apps have critical features to become the category killer, but none of them have all the fundamentals. While adding features is already difficult, the key to success is being able to integrate the functionality seamlessly without ruining the user experience – a tall order indeed.
Integration will be the holy grail of note-taking and thought-support software going ahead. Picture a day when you can take notes right into a mapping solution by hand, by keyboard or by voice, move it around with touch-screen ease, and with a keystroke identify action items complete with priority, deadline and other pertinent information. These go immediately into your task-management system, such as Outlook, where you can act and track them to completion.
The good news is that all the requisite technologies are already available, so it’s just a matter of putting it all together the right way. The note-taking revolution is upon us!
